SA Premier Alliance Center of Excellence

The SA Premier Alliance is excited to announce our Center of Excellence program in an effort to provide platforms for our players to continue to develop to the best of their abilities. Rarely in this market, do you see clubs choosing to work together to provide greater opportunity for our players. This exciting initiative is yet another great example of how the Alliance is search- ing to improve the level of youth soccer in San Antonio.

Initially, the center of excellence will be for U13 and U14 boys and girls.
Tryouts will be held June 16 and 17 at GVTC at 6pm to 8pm. More Information to follow. Players from all 5 clubs will have the opportunity to tryout to play for these 'representative' teams in addition to their club team. If selected, they will train bi
-weekly with the Directors of Coaching from the 5 respective clubs at COE training sessions.

In the build up to tournaments and events, the frequency of sessions will increase, but will be in addition to club practices.
Furthermore, these teams will compete in elite level tournaments across the state and region as well as in friendly matches with members of US Club’s National Premier League South Cen- tral Conference. In 2015, we will expand the age groups to cover U13
-U17 boys and girls and will look to formally enter the National Premier League South Central Conference.

About the National Premier Leagues:

The NPL was created to elevate and change the competitive youth soccer landscape by extend- ing developmental principles espoused by U.S. Soccer into more age groups and clubs, by link- ing competition with player development and identification platforms, and by providing meaningful weekly competition culminating in the NPL Finals.

NPLs are independent leagues, unified under one national competition platform, and based on a common technical framework designed to improve long
-term player development. The NPL provides a platform:

  • focused on long-term player development
  • for the country’s top soccer clubs, allowing consistent, meaningful high-level games appro- priately scheduled with higher training-to-game ratios
  •  that allows players to be scouted and evaluated by U.S. Soccer National Staff and Technical Advisors;
  • that is designed and structured by the clubs, based on the needs of the clubs; and that provides an avenue for qualification for the NPL Champions Cup.

The National Premier Leagues platform will give our players greater exposure to college coaches, US National team coaches, as well as provide our players the opportunity to compete in a national championship focused on long term development.
